Cookies

Cookie policy

websilence.app sets no cookies of its own for visitors. This page lists what the site keeps in your browser, what advertising partners may set, and how to control both.

1. Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Browser storage (local storage) is similar, but its contents stay in your browser and are not sent to the website's server. Both can be cleared at any time in your browser's settings.

2. What this website stores

3. Visit counting without cookies

We count visits with PulseGrid, which runs on our own server and uses no cookies. Visitors are told apart within a single day by a one-way code made from the IP address and browser; the code changes every day and can't be turned back into either. To switch counting off in your browser, open this link; to switch it back on, open the site with ?pgrid-optout=0.

4. Advertising cookies

We may show ads on this website, served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites on the internet. These cookies are set by Google and its partners, who decide their names and how long they last.

More about how Google uses this information: How Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's advertising policy.

5. The WebSilence extension

The extension doesn't use cookies. It keeps its settings in your browser's extension storage, as described in the privacy policy, and it never shows ads.

6. Managing cookies

Every browser lets you see, delete and block cookies and site data, usually under Settings › Privacy. In Chrome, go to Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies. Blocking cookies on this site doesn't stop it from working; you may simply see less relevant ads.
